A new dawn a new day -  just how will it impact on immigration and the future of our country.

The three main parties came up with many scenarios and plans for dealing with UK immigration – just how will the system cope and what form will it take in the future?

A breakdown of the recent policies put forward by all the parties is shown on the link below –

Now that we know the Conservatives have won an overall majority the future of immigration is expected to be as follows:

  • Free movement will end for EU citizens and non-EU citizens family members; no access to benefits for five years.
  • EU nationals and their family members can continue to register to stay in the UK under the current EU settlement scheme until 31 December 2020 after which they will be subject to the British Immigration Rules like all other foreign nationals.
  • An  “Australian-style points based system” to be introduced from 1st January 2020 to replace the current work based categories
  • The re-introduction of a post-study work visa.
  • A likely increase of an immigration health surcharge to at least £625 per year.

Whatever the future may hold, if you are faced with the pain of trying to help your family dig through the mounds of paperwork and need a helping hand, our very experienced immigration team can simplify the rules and assist you through the process, taking away the stress.
