Upon The Children and Families Bill receiving Royal assent new laws relating to family Mediation will come into force. The Bill is expected to receive Royal assent very soon and be in force by April 2014.

Reforms introduced in the Children and Families Bill are expected to state that those who are looking to resolve a dispute over children, money and property must look to Mediation in the first instance before commencing Court proceedings.

Mauro Vinti, Family Law Mediator at Sydney Mitchell commented:

We offer a family Mediation service to help couples going through a separation and we recognise the need for couples to try all available ways to resolve matters before entering Court proceedings.
