Dean Parnell, Partner at Sydney Mitchell, has recently become the 191st President of the Birmingham Law Society. He takes over the role from previous President Bernard Shepherd, who stood down on the 27th April. The Birmingham Law Society is now the largest Local Law Society in the Country representing over 3000 solicitors, barristers, legal executives, trainee solicitors and paralegals in 200 practices in Birmingham and the Greater Midlands. It is a membership organisation offering a number of benefits that are relevant to today's Legal Community. Dean Parnell said: “I am looking forward to the new role immensely. I hope to bring the same enthusiasm to the job as my predecessor, Bernard Shepherd. Despite difficult market conditions the Society has enjoyed tremendous support during the last year – our annual legal awards attracted record attendance levels and nominations. I aim to continue this momentum.” “I also hope to meet and recruit more members and to ensure that Birmingham Law Society remains the voice of the region’s legal community”. Dean remains with Sydney Mitchell, specialising in commercial litigation (incl. employment disputes). He is a trained mediator and has experience with over 40 commercial mediations. He also acts as a court approved supervising solicitor on Search Orders. The firm wishes him every success with his new position and is delighted that he representing such a prestigious organisation.
