The guidance on Holiday entitlement and pay during coronavirus was updated yesterday for those working and on furlough leave.
In short an employer can compel those on furlough leave to take holiday, as long as the right notice provisions are given BUT, employers need to be aware that when doing so it needs to consider whether the employee is under any restriction, such as the need to socially distance or self-isolate, which would prevent the worker from resting, relaxing and enjoying leisure time, which is the fundamental purpose of holiday.
